Tree of Life
The Tree of Life is composed of religious symbols. It is a symbolic representation of the human experience that takes place between heaven and earth, spirit and matter.
The Tree of Life: Design Hendrik Gommer Implementation Bram Guijt 1988 The black square represents the earth, matter. The white wings represent the divine, the immaterial. The flame is the spirit. Between the spiritual and material human ideas develop. Spirit and matter are connected by the body, gesymbolized by the red line with 'branches', the tree itself. In this tree the Jewish menorah, the yantra and the Buddhist Eightfold Path, the Christian cross and the Hindu sun's wheel can be recognized. They propose ways of life. A description of reality will always fall short.
